When a victim is in danger every second is important for the survival of the victim.
The following rules and principles are applicable while taking care:
- Without panic and confusion organize all the activities necessary in a orderly fashion.
- See the medical help is available to the victim at the earliest by sending message to a doctor or to an ambulance.
- First check for the patent (open) airway and assess breathing.
- If the victim is in active bleeding immediately make every effort to control the bleeding.
- Move the victim considering the cervical spine to an safe area if suspected cervical spine injury do not move the patient till the c- collar arrives from an external source.
- Treat or the shock(blood loss) caused from the injury.
- Do first-aid as much as required to prevent the deterioration of the condition.
- Do not allow the people to crowd around the victim.
- Allow fresh air to the victim.
- Do not create fear in the victim or the people around.
- Do not move or remove clothes unnecessarily.
- Assure him that he is in the safe hands and medical help will be coming soon.
