The way body organs function begin to slow down as a part of aging. If we refer our body parts with a
machine working from years back, generally they show wear and tear process. Same as the case with the body parts and their functioning over time.
Blood, Blood vessels and heart together called as circulatory system.
On Heart:
- Heart responds slowly.
- Decreased circulation.
- Increased workload.
- Pooling of blood in the lower extremities.
- Atherosclerosis(leading to narrowing of blood vessels).
- Arrhythmia (due to conduction problems).
- Valves become thick.
- Ventricular Cavity may change.
On Blood Vessels:
- The innermost layer of the vessels get roughned, thickened and tough.
- Arteries become inelastic and become thin.
- Veins are prone to varicose veins.
- Clots may appear as the part of aging.
In Blood:
- Clots in the circulation can form as a embolism and hence leading to shutting down the circulation.
- Decreased Hematocrit (erythrocytes present in blood).
- Decrease White Blood Cells.
On Respiratory System:
- Decreased elasticity of lungs(<utilization of oxygen).
- Restlessness, fatigue and shortness of breathe on exertion.
On Skeletal system:
- They can be easily broken down(porous and brittle).
- Due to decreased calcium in bones.
- Due to decreased vitamin supplements.
In Digestive System:
- Slowing down takes place.
- Problems related to digestion takes place.
- Absorption of essential nutrients slow down.
On Neurological System:
- Takes longer time to respond to the messages.
- Decreased feeling of pain.
Important things to keep in consideration:
