Blood Pressure - Tips to lower it..

Maintain all the tips to lessen your blood pressure which have worst results.

HYPERTENSION is one of the major causes of disability and death. It is a condition in which the pressure in the blood vessels gets elevated or abnormally high. It is one of the life threatening problems which have unrecognized symptoms.

Arteries carry purified blood from heart to all body parts and Veins carry unpurified blood from all the parts to the heart.

The blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the flow of blood on the walls of the artery. Commonly B.P is measured in (mm/hg) i.e. in millimeters of mercury the normal range is 120/80 in which 120 is the systolic pressure (pressure when the heart contracts) and 80 is the diastolic pressure (pressure when the heart relaxes).

Systolic pressure above 160 and Diastolic pressure above 100 considered to be abnormal.

Motivation is Important:

  • The foremost thing to keep in consideration is to get motivated. Get used to have regular pattern of physical activity.
  • Take assistance from theĀ  family members.
  • Enjoy the work you do.

Alcohol:

  • Drinks containing high amount of Calories such as alcohol and sugary juices should be minimised.
  • To treat high blood pressure doctors recommend two drinks per day in men and not more than one drink to women(Drink = 12 onces, 4 - 5 ounces of wine)

Salt:

  • Restrict your diet by taking minimal quantities of salt.
  • It should not exceed approx 5 gms.

Exercise:

  • Brisk walking, moderate exercise(>30), Dancing, swimming, jogging, walk and cycle.
  • Before you start your exercise warm up for a while and relax for a while letting the body to cool down.

Healthy Diet:

  • Eating healthy foods containing low fat.
  • Drinking lot amounts of water.

Special considerations:

  • Some people on medications have a slow heart rate in that case consult a doctor to know the desired heart rate while you exercise.
  • Seek doctors help if you have chronic health problem.
