Headaches - types, Relieving Tips

Every one in their life time experiences “HEADACHE”at least once but a few seek medical care.  Just start knowing the various kinds and how u can resolve………

The brain and skull (bony part of the head) doesn’t have any pain receptors but the pain originates from the face, muscles of head, neck, blood vessels.

Symptoms: Nausea, Vomiting, Photophobia, Neck stiffness, Fever, Tearing Pain, Aura

MUSCLE TENSION HEADACHES: These are the most common type of headaches which are caused by the prolonged muscle contraction of the head and face, and even caused by stress. Pain presents on the both sides of the head and it travels from the back to the front. It presents as dull and squeezing in nature.

MIGRANE HEADACHES: This is caused by the changes of the blood vessels located in the base of the brain. The person presents with the pain which is on one side that spreads over time. Nausea& vomiting may be present. Pain may be pounding, throbbing and pulsating in nature.

CLUSTER HEADACHES: They are rare that start in the face and in clusters or in groups and they last for 30 to 40 minutes and occur repeatedly. The pain is minor around the eye that intensifies quickly and starts unilateral to the face.

SINUS HEADACHES: Generally caused by inflammation or infection within the sinus cavities of the face and pain generally located in the superior boarder of the face and increases pain by bending and moving. One may have sore throat and nasal discharge.

OTHER DIAGNOSIS (Can be also through these causes)

  • Migraine.
  • Alcohol.
  • Brain abscess.
  • Carbon Monoxide.
  • Epidural& subarachnoid hemorrhage.
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia.
  • Viral meningitis
  • HIV infection.

Relieving Tips:

  • Most of the head aches are tension headaches(prolonged driving,sitting in a fixed position etc), These can be fixed having massages, hot showers, cold packs and muscle relaxation techniques.
  • Some respond to Analgesics(pain killers).
  • Women generally get the pain behind the eyes at times before their period, to fix this prooblem they have to eat foods that contains zinc.
  • Develop Healthy life style which includes enough sleep and rest.
  • Skipping meals can also be a cause of headache.
  • Drink as much water as possible it takes away heat from the body.
  • Foods can also trigger headaches so watch while you eat.
  • Maintain a healthy posture while working not letting the muscles to get strained.
